ODD mom moments

Hi there! I’m a mom doing my best to stay sane. Sound familiar? I have four beautiful children, one of whom was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD at a young age. When my daughter was first diagnosed I read a LOT of books and joined a lot of groups. What I found was that many parents of ODD children have lost hope. Many cannot see their child/children ever becoming a nice person, ever succeeding in life, ever holding a job, or ever finding their place in this world. I found that disheartening and was forced to distance myself to keep away from becoming depressed myself.

This blog is dedicated to telling our story and giving back that hope to those struggling with similar trials. Aurora is the star of our story, and we are right in the middle of it all. She is a spitfire 10-year-old who is helping me tell the story “the right way”. Many of the techniques and philosophies I share are the result of all those books and the advice of others. I will try to cite credit where it is due. Sometimes, however, I just cannot remember where I got an idea for something new. Sometimes it was the result of something I read adapted to my own situation or an idea that came to me because of something I had tried before but now adjusted. Some techniques I tried for a while and then stopped because they were no longer effective or necessary. As much as possible, I will include the name of my sources.
